In the United States, more than 300 million laying hens live and produce eggs in whats called "battery cages". These cages contain and average of 59 square inches for each of these hens to live confined for their entire life. These hens can barely move unable to even stand, flap their wings, build a nest, perch, dust bathe or perfom many other natural behaviors.

The conditions are such which promotes all kinds of health problems, such as bone weakness, liver damage, feather loss etc.

When the hens are at the end of their laying cycle, hens are forced into molting by not feeding them for 10-14 days all in efforts to start another laying cycle.

There is overwhelming information which should cause all of us reason to think more about just buying our food but knowing how it is produced. Below you will see pictures of these battery cages and farm conditions. For more information on this subject please go to our "Somthing For Everyone" page for links to addional websites.
